Keys and Beta Keys
Keys are unique alphanumeric strings that are:
- Associated with user accounts
- Required to call the MetaGlance API
- Can be regular keys or beta keys
Generating Keys
When you are logged in you will see a Keys panel on the right. To generate a new key, click on the create key link. You will see a menu similar to the following:

Fill in a Key Name that describes how you want to use the key or will help you remember it, e.g. "TestKey," "Standard Key," or "Shauna's Key".
Check the "Beta" box only if you want to include non-supported experimental features of the MetaGlance API. Using a beta key will return additional metadata elments that are still under development and testing.
Save the Key. The system will automatically generate a unique key which will then be listed in your key panel.
Monitoring Keys
You can see your keys in the key panel or by clicking on the more... link in the key panel. The aforementioned method will show your keys in a table. Clicking on the name of a key will bring up the box pictured above and you can change the type of the key back and forth from beta to regular or vice versa.
Special Keys
If you have special features in your account, such as key-based classification, it will be tied to specific keys. There is also user-based classification, which is tied to all of your keys.
